Wow, an anime convention with five locations—and a new location coming in May 2027! With events spread across multiple regions, ColossalCon (CC) may be one of the largest anime convention brands in the United States when considering its combined locations. The warmer-weather destinations add extra fun thanks to the Kalahari Resort water parks that host many of the events.

My First ColossalCon Experience

ColossalCon Prime is where it all started. I happened to attend ColossalCon Prime for the first time this year. It was also my first time attending an anime convention east of Arizona.

One of the highlights was seeing cosplayers around the pool area wearing swimwear versions of their favorite anime, gaming, and manga characters. The atmosphere was fun, unique, and unlike any convention I had attended before.

Since ColossalCon events are held at Kalahari Resorts, they also feature an arcade area. The arcade is filled with colorful lights and decorations, making it a great place to take photos. It provides a vibrant backdrop for both gaming enthusiasts and anime convention attendees.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, CC 2026 was a success. Even the lightest day of the four-day event (Sunday) was enjoyable. With fewer cosplayers present, it was easier to spend more time with each person and take better photos.

Before attending, I did not plan on returning to another ColossalCon event. However, after experiencing the convention for the first time, I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the friendliness of the East Coast cosplay community. The hospitality and enthusiasm of the cosplayers made the event memorable, and I now look forward to attending another ColossalCon in the future.
