At Kawaii Kon 2022, I had the chance to meet the beautiful Syn (Synthisia) in the dealer hall on the main floor of the Honolulu Convention Center. Specifically, I got to see their version of Amiya’s Summer skin from Arknights, a popular mobile RPG. Since I was looking for costumes other than the mainstream ones, I was excited to have the opportunity to take photos of this unique skin.

Unfortunately, due to the poor lighting in the hall, I only managed to take a few photos of Synthisia during a quick walk around the convention. Because I did not see them again later, I was unable to arrange a photoshoot outside the hall. Even so, the photos turned out great.

As a cosplay photographer, this was my first time spotting Synthisia at a convention. I am glad I was able to meet them because I have since seen them at other events as well. However, I have only been able to photograph them at Anime LA in addition to this event, as they are always busy due to their popularity. For that reason, I hope to see them again at a future anime convention or even at Anime Expo with another cosplay of an iconic character.

Moving forward, I look forward to seeing them at other Southern California events and anime conventions in the coming years. In the end, attending more conventions may be the best way to catch all of their amazing cosplays. In fact, this experience has encouraged me to branch out and explore even more events in the future.
